Nesta had a press conference today and here is the report.

DUBAI – Queste le dichiarazioni rilasciate da Alessandro Nesta nel corso della conferenza stampa odierna:
“Alla ripresa inizierà un momento delicato della stagione perchè dovremo affrontare diverse partite del campionato tutte ravvicinate in un periodo cortissimo e la situazione insolita è che in casa non abbiamo ancora vinto. Siamo dunque chiamati ad una reazione importante che a mio modo di vedere, in base a come stiamo lavorando e a come stiamo mentalmente, ci potrà essere.
L’obiettivo è quello di vincere il maggior numero di partite possibili una dopo l’altra ed entrare quindi in una serie di partite positive. Per la lotta per il quarto posto credo ci sia un avversario particolarmente pericoloso da tenere in considerazione, la Fiorentina.
Non so spiegare quali siano le differenze del nostro rendimento tra Champions League e campionato, ma certo è che dobbiamo reagire e questo periodo di ritiro farà sicuramente bene perchè lavorare al caldo fa bene sia alla testa che alle gambe.
Ronaldo? Si allena con grande allegria. Al momento non conosco la sua condizione fisica reale e quali siano le possibilità di un suo rientro al più presto, ma sono convinto che ci sia la possibilità di farlo soprattutto qui al Milan.
Il gol che ho realizzato nella finale di Yokohama è stato per me importante perchè l’ho realizzato sullo sviluppo di un azione. In ogni caso non posso dire che sia stato un gol che mi ha cambiato la vita, in quel momento non ho pensato a nulla, ero felice e non mi è venuto il ricordo della finale del Mondiale che non ho giocato con la Nazionale.
La partita contro l’Inter potevamo vincerla, non ci sono stati segnali particolari che ci permettessero di capire che l’Inter potesse farci gol, ma al di là dell’errore di Nelson lui ha assorbito bene questo momento e si è presentato in ritiro in maniera positiva. E’ un compagno e va protetto e difeso dalle critiche.
Nel campionato italiano non credo che ci sia un’assenza particolare di giocatori che svolgono il ruolo di difensori, anzi reputo che ci siano giocatori validi come Ferrari e Barzagli che ritengo pronti ad affrontare un’eventuale chiamata in Nazionale.”

“Following the resumption, a delicate moment of the season will start because we shall have to face various league games close to one another in a short period of time and the unusual situation is that at home we have not won yet. We are therefore called for an important reaction which in my opinion, according on how we are working and how we are mentally, it can happen. The objective is that of winning as many games as possible, one after the other, and therefore enter a positive series of results. For the fight for the fourth place I think there will be a particularly dangerous opponent: Fiorentina.
“I don’t know how to explain the differences of our performance in the Champions League and Serie A, but what is sure is that we must react and this training camp period will surely do us good because working in a warm environment does well both to the head and the legs.
“Ronaldo? He’s training with a lot of happiness. Right now I don’t know his real physical condition and what are his possibilities to be back in action as soon as possible, but I’m convinced that there is the possibility to do so especially at Milan.
“The goal I scored in the Yokohama final was important for me because I scored it during an action. In any case, I cannot say that it was a goal which changed my life and at that moment I did not think about anything, but I was happy and did not think about the World Cup final which I did not play with my national team.
“We could have won the match against Inter, as there were not particular signs which allowed us to understand that Inter could score against us, but apart from Nelson’s mistake, he absorbed well until that moment and he arrived for the training camp in a positive way. He’s a team-mate and he must be protected and defended from the criticism.
“I don’t think that there’s a particular absence in the Italian league of players who act as defenders, on the contrary, I believe that there are valid players like Ferrari and Barzagli whom I believe ready to face an eventual call-up in the national team.”
