Ancelotti: Nesta to Play in Three Weeks

02/11/09 Nesta trained separately from the team, with Prilo and Tiago Silva today but it’s said there was no significant progress. A small picture of cute Nesta in training:

02/10/09 Nesta trains with Milan squad today. He took the entire session with the team. Some rumor suggest he might even be called up for derby this weekend, due to Bonera’s suspension.

02/06/09 Ancelotti said Nesta is doing well and from Monday he will be working with the team.

02/02/09 Nesta is included in Milan’s new list of players for UEFA Cup.

01/28/09 Apparently Nesta went to the stadium for yesterday’s game. And there was a fan banner saying Gattuso e Nesta, la Sud vi aspetta. Galliani said I saw Nesta at the stadium but I don’t know if he has recovered. But Gattuso told me that Nesta is training very well and is expected to recover very soon. Nesta still worked in the gym today.

01/27/09 Nesta worked in the gym today. Ancelotti said Nesta is working separately without the ball but in 10 days he will join the group and in 20 days he will be able to play.

01/26/09 Milan doctor Massimo Manara said he is optimistic about Nesta’s recovery. He said Nesta is running and still needs ten days of physical work. Then if he passes the test, doctor Manara believes Nesta will be able to play in 2 weeks.

Ancelotti said today that Nesta has fully recovered from hernia so it is a matter of preparation for playing. Nesta has been exercising in the past 10 days but he will need to work on speed and strength in the coming couple of weeks. Therefore he might be able to play in three weeks. Nesta did running yesterday and worked in the gym today.

Raffaele Pagnozzi, Nesta’s father in law, talked about his return during an interview:

Lei è il suocero di Alessandro Nesta. Reduce da un lungo soggiorno terapeutico a Miami, tornerà ad essere il campione di prima? «Ho amici appassionati di scommesse che col ritorno di mio genero, l’ ingaggio di Beckham e la conferma di Kakà stanno puntando qualche soldo sullo scudetto del Milan. Mi sa che li imiterò».

@gwendly, thanks for the update. I wonder what Mr. Pagnozzi actually bets, lol

I’m so happy, it was too fast to make caps, I tried but they are blurry :( sorry, hopefully they’ll show him more and better so I can make some for you

FORZA NESTA!!!!!!!!

I hope we will see Nesta on the pitch as soon as possible…

KnetSanz | Jan 28, 21:28 | #

I also hope to see Nesta on the pitch soon but it is ok for me to wait a while if Nesta needs it…
I would appreciate and can enjoy watching pics and vids of his training or even Nesta sitting on the bench. Would be a new soccer vid genre showing just the bench
but most Milan fans miss Gattuso, too.

thanks a lot! the interview transcript i read was not as detailed as this one! i’m gonna translate the part Ancelotti mentions Nesta:

This is a team with a great sense of humor. Pirlo, for example, has irony humor like from a comedian; Nesta has a Roman humor…

The best players through these years?

Nesta Maldini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Kakà, Inzaghi e Sheva.

I’m curious to know what Roman humor is like :)

forza | Jan 29, 16:59 | #

they make fun of his accent? I always think he is an intellegent guy with some sense of humor

I forgot to say I don’t like Galliani’s words, like he’s never talked to Nesta since his return and doesn’t intend to talk to him either.

gwendlyn | Jan 29, 18:25 | #

his accent and he is the whinniest? i’m just guessing@@

i understand what you’re saying as i have the same feeling. but i understand his feeling too because if i were him, i would keep my mouth shut till Nesta actually gets on the pitch… His reason seems to be this is not a technical problem and Nesta is a stratospheric player@@ shall I take this as a compliment?

I think Galliani is still angry at Nesta for his Miami tarry..@_@

ette | Jan 30, 04:42 | #

About Galliani:
Was it Gwen, who said something like “old bald man”? I also agree with ette.
