Sandro Nesta voted FIFPro team of the year
FIFPro members also voted for their team of the year. The side was comprised of four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards. The award was presented to Kaka and Nesta today at Milan. “Dal Mondiale ad oggi ho attraversato un periodo difficile, mi sono rotto la spalla e anche mentalmente non è stato facile. La società mi è stata vicina e mi ha permesso di andare a Miami per tre mesi dove mi sono potuto curare e anche dal punto di vista mentale sono riuscito a tornare come nuovo. Credo che per un calciatore il cervello conti al novanta per cento per le proprie prestazioni. Al mio ritorno è iniziato un altro capitolo importante della mia vita.
Anche lo scorso anno non abbiamo iniziato la stagione nel migliore dei modi. Quest’anno stiamo comunque facendo un pizzico meglio, anche se perdendo un po’ di più, stiamo comunque lavorando e metteremo al più presto tutto in ordine.
Il vostro valore individuale viene valorizzato dalla società sul palcoscenico internazionale?
Chiaramente se vinci la Champions ci sono più possibilità di essere visti, ma anche per conquistare il Pallone d’Oro devi essere protagonista in una squadra vincente, altrimenti non puoi vincerlo.Mi fa davvero piacere ricevere questo premio dai miei colleghi, perchè la stima dei miei compagni è davvero importante.
Dopo la finale di Berlino a cui non hai potuto partecipare, ti è venuta voglia di essere protagonista a Tokyo?
E’ un trofeo che mi manca, con il Milan e la Nazionale ho vinto tanto. E’ comunque uno degli obiettivi dei tanti giocatori che vogliono giocare quella Finale.”Si è parlato di un possibile arrivo di Del piero in rossonero, cosa ne pensi?
“Se arrivasse Del Piero sarei contento, è un giocatore che parla poco, ma quando parla dice sempre cose giuste. Se venisse al Milan sarei contento.”

“From the world cup till today, I went through a difficult period. I broke my shoulder and mentally it was not easy. The club was close to me and allowed me to go to Miami for three months were I could cure myself and even from the mental point of view I managed to return as new. I think that for a footballer the mind matters 90% for the performances. On my return another chapter of my life started.”
Your individual value is enhanced by the club on the international level?
“Obviously if you win the Champions League there are more possibilities of being seen, but also to win the Golden Ball you must be a protagonist of a winning team, otherwise you cannot win it.“I’m really pleased to receive this award by my colleagues, because the respect of my team mates is really important.”
After the final in Berlin, in which you did not take part, did you wish to become a protagonist at Tokyo?
“It’s a trophy which I’m missing, with Milan and the national team I won a lot. It’s anyway one of the objective of the many players who want to play in that final.”

What do you think about the possible arrival of Del Piro? “If he comes I would be happy. He is a player that speaks few, but only speaks right things. If he came to Milan I would be happy.”
